How To Bed Your Brakes
The final step in installing your Traild brake pads is to bed the
pads. The bedding procedure will heat your brakes to transfer an even
layer of pad material onto the rotors which helps brake performance,
feel, and minimizes brake noise.
For Ceramic pads:
- Use firm brake pressure to slow from ~35 MPH to 5 MPH. Repeat 5 times.
- Use firm brake pressure to slow from ~25 MPH to 5 MPH. Repeat 5 times.
- Drive for 5-10 minutes, using the brakes minimally, to allow the brakes to cool.
Try to avoid coming to a complete stop during the bedding procedure. Once the brakes have cooled you can use them normally.
For Brass pads:
- Use firm brake pressure to slow from ~15 MPH to 5 MPH. Repeat 3 times.
- Use firm brake pressure to slow from ~20 MPH to 5 MPH. Repeat 3 times.
- Drive for 5-10 minutes, using the brakes minimally, to allow the brakes to cool.
Try to avoid coming to a complete stop during the bedding procedure. Once the brakes have cooled you can use them normally.
